దినోత్సవం - మే 11

 ఉద్దేశ్యం:
శాస్త్ర సాంకేతిక రంగంలో భారత దేశం సాధించిన విజయాలను మరియు భారత శాస్త్రవేత్తలు, ఇంజనీర్లు సాధించిన సాంకేతికపరమైన విజయాలను గుర్తుచేసుకోవడం జాతీయ సాంకేతిక దినోత్సవం (National Technology Day) ముఖ్య ఉద్దేశ్యం.

 ఎప్పటి నుంచి?
1999 నుంచి ప్రతి సంవత్సరం మే 11 వ తేదీన జాతీయ సాంకేతిక దినోత్సవాన్ని దేశవ్యాప్తంగా జరుపుకుంటున్నారు.

 మే 11 నే ఎందుకు?
11 మే 1998 న పోఖ్రాన్‌లో భారతదేశం రెండో అణు పరీక్షలను విజయవంతంగా పరీక్షించింది.  
దీని జ్ఞాపకార్థం ప్రతి సంవత్సరం మే 11 వ తేదీన టెక్నాలజీ డెవలప్‌మెంట్ బోర్డు (TDB), సైన్స్ అండ్ టెక్నాలజీ మంత్రిత్వ శాఖ జాతీయ సాంకేతిక దినోత్సవాన్ని ఘ‌నంగా నిర్వ‌హిస్తోంది.

 చరిత్ర:
1998 మే 11 న అటల్ బిహారీ వాజ్ పేయి ప్రధానిగా ఉన్నప్పుడు అబ్దుల్ కలాం సారధ్యంలో భారతదేశం రెండవ సారి రాజస్థాన్‌ లోని పోఖ్రాన్ వద్ద విజయవంతంగా అణు పరీక్షలను నిర్వహించింది. దీన్నే పోఖ్రాన్-2 (Pokhran-II) లేదా ఆపరేషన్ శక్తి (Operation Shakti) అంటారు. 1998 మే 11 న మూడు, మే 13 న రెండు మొత్తం 5 అణు పరీక్షలను నిర్వహించారు. 
ఈ పరీక్షల తరువాత అటల్ బిహారీ వాజ్‌ పేయి భారతదేశాన్ని అణు దేశంగా ప్రకటించారు. దీనివల్ల న్యూక్లియర్ క్లబ్ లో చేరిన ఆరవ దేశంగా భారతదేశం నిలిచింది.

 TDB:
  • భారతలో అభివృద్ధిని ప్రోత్సహించడానికి చట్టబద్ధమైన సంస్థగా భారత ప్రభుత్వం సెప్టెంబర్ 1996 లో టెక్నాలజీ డెవలప్‌మెంట్ బోర్డ్ (TDB- Technology Development Board) ను టెక్నాలజీ డెవలప్‌మెంట్ బోర్డ్ యాక్ట్-1995 ప్రకారం ఏర్పాటు చేసింది.
  • 2001 నుంచి శాస్త్ర, సాంకేతిక రంగంలో కృషిచేసిన వ్యక్తులకు, పరిశ్రమలకు జాతీయ సాంకేతిక దినోత్సవం రోజున TDB జాతీయ అవార్డులను (TDB National Awards) అందజేస్తారు.

 కార్యక్రమాలు:
నేడు శాస్త్ర సాంకేతిక రంగమే ప్రపంచాన్ని శాసిస్తుంది. ప్రతీ దేశం అభివృద్ధి సైన్స్‌ పైనే ఆధారపడి ఉంటుంది. సైన్స్‌ ప్రాముఖ్యతను తెలియజేయడానికి దేశంలోని వివిధ సాంకేతిక సంస్థలలో, ఇంజనీరింగ్ కళాశాలల్లో వివిధ కార్యక్రమాలు నిర్వహిస్తారు.

 మరికొన్ని అంశాలు:
మొట్టమొదటి అణు పరీక్షలను రాజస్థాన్ లోని పోఖ్రాన్‌ వద్ద ఇందిరాగాంధీ ప్రధానిగా ఉన్నప్పుడు భారతదేశం 1974 మే 18 న రాజారామన్న సారధ్యంలో నిర్వహించింది. దీన్నే స్మైలింగ్ బుద్ధ (Smiling Buddha) లేదా పోఖ్రాన్-1 (Pokhran-I) అంటారు.
